In 2016 we completed 7 adventures that took us all to the edge of our comfort zone all over the world and in different ways. It contained a mixture of tried and tested adventures as well as some pioneering new challenges. In 2016 we created 3 new adventures in China, Transylvania and The Caribbean. Our biggest adventure to date was the Caribbean Sail, an adventure on the high seas involving 83 staff and 14 boats with an iconic party hosted by Richard at his island home. In China we ran our first Bike and Hike 'Tiger Leaping Gorge' challenge along and into the deepest gorge in the world in Greater Tibet. Also new was our 'Dracula Three Peaks' Climb in the Carpathian mountains of Transylvania, which took more than 50 staff on an imaginative and testing 3 day challenge, finishing at the home of Vlad the Impailer! Our second Climb Morocco in the High Atlas, was a snowy affair 4160m up Mt Toubkal, and once again we celebrated in real style at Virgin’s amazing Kasbah Tamadot. Not to be outdone we were also able to celebrate our third Cycle South Africa ride in amazing style at Ulusaba and 2016 also saw the return of one of our most appealing challenges, a ride from Nairobi all the way into the Masai Mara along the Rift Valley including spending one night with the community and one night at Virgin's amazing Mahali Mzuri lodge.
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
The motto of our staff led activism is ‘have fun, do good’ and since our first trip to climb Mount Fuji in 2008 nearly 2000 staff, family and friends have been inspired to live life on the edge and travel the road less travelled. In 2016 alone nearly 300 took part in 7 world-wide adventures. The legacy of our fundraising gives real meaning and lasting benefit too. Since 2008 we have created more than 40 challenges and raised hundreds of thousands of pounds in the process. Many staff have described our adventures as one of the best things they have ever done. The adventure challenges are staff led, created and supported by the energy from within and in our own time. Proudly Virgin in spirit and with charity and adventure at our heart. We welcome everyone from the wider Virgin group as well as family and friends.
